Holly Willoughby has given hope to women all over the country who are not able to access their hair salon in Hampshire while the country is in lockdown, showing fans how to keep their roots at bay while at home.

The TV presenter, who is famous for her platinum-blonde locks, reassured ladies who now face weeks of not being able to go to their hair stylist to re-colour their tresses themselves.

Taking to Instagram, the 38-year-old said: “Tomorrow morning on @thismorning I know I will get an awful lot of questions asking how come I’ve managed to get my hair colour done whilst we are in lockdown (roots were getting out of control!)”

She went on to say: “Do I really use @garnieruk to tint my own hair and if so how do I do it? … Hope this helps if you are considering home hair colour for the first time … Always do a patch test and follow the instructions #nutrisse #bettercolour #garnieruk #ad.”

Willoughby is a spokesperson for Garnier, which is probably why she has promoted it on her social media feed. Those who want to recreate the star’s look should get themselves colour 10.1 Natural Baby Blonde, which claims to provide 100 per cent grey coverage.

While home dyes might not be the ideal solution, it could offer women a bit of hope as long as salons around the country remain closed.

Once you are able to head to the hairdresser’s again, you might want to ask for twilighting, which is bayalage directly on to hair with babylights, providing a warm brunette and golden tone.
